The NAPInclusion Social Inclusion Forum (SIF) was established by the Irish Government in 2002 as an institutional structure aimed at ensuring the involvement of all actors in the drive to combat poverty and social exclusion. The SIF is jointly organised and funded by the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF) and the Office for Social Inclusion (OSI), with inputs from other stakeholder organisations. It allows representatives of Government and state agencies, the social partners, non-governmental organisations, people experiencing poverty and their representatives to meet to consider various aspects of social inclusion policy. In particular, stakeholders have an opportunity: The meetings of the Forum have proven to be an important and effective mechanism to facilitate consultation with and get feedback from those who are directly experiencing or representing people living in poverty and who have a stake in making the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion (NAPinclusion) work. An innovative feature of the Forum meeting held in 2006 was the holding of a series of capacity-building events prior to the SIF in a number of regional locations.
